Lib Dem Councillor Tariq Khan is fighting to save local Post Offices.

Labour's Hodge Hill MP Liam Byrne has voted in Parliament to close another 2,500 local Post Offices.

Byrne has backed plans which mean that one third of all Post Offices will close, against the wishes of local residents.

Cllr Tariq Khan said "Our Labour MP should be ashamed. Once again he's done exactly what Gordon Brown has told him to do."

"Liam Byrne should be standing up for Hodge Hill instead."

Liberal Democrats locally and nationally are campaigning to stop the closures. Over 50,000 people have signed the Lib Dem petition against the closures.

Cllr Gwyn Neilly said "I believe that Post Offices are vital to our local community. When a Post Office closes it hits other businesses too. Often it's the most vulnerable people who suffer because they can't get to another Post Office. We will continue to fight alongside local people to stop Labour's Post Office closures."

Labour's newest round of 2,500 closures are ON TOP of 7,500 already closed under Labour and the Conservatives.

Unlike the other parties, the Lib Dems have a plan to protect and improve Britain's Post office network.

Washwood Heath Councillor Tariq Khan added "For over twenty years Labour and the Conservatives have been running down our Post Office network. It's time for a change. I want to see real investment in our Post Office network so we get better services for the thousands of local people who use Post Offices every week."
